CRY YOU ONE (2013-2018)

Cry You One was an outdoor performance and online storytelling platform from the heart of Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands. Pioneered by the New Orleans based companies ArtSpot Productions and Mondo Bizarro, Cry You One celebrates the people and cultures of South Louisiana while turning clear eyes on the crisis of our vanishing coast.

CRY YOU ONE is a project that journeys into the heart of Louisiana’s disappearing wetlands. Pioneered by the New Orleans based companies ArtSpot Productions and Mondo Bizarro, CRY YOU ONE celebrates the people and cultures of South Louisiana while turning clear eyes on the crisis of our vanishing coast. This fall, we both premiered the 2.5 mile outdoor performance and launched the online storytelling platform, CryYouOne.com. From October 26-November 24th, 2013, four days a week, CRY YOU ONE invited hundreds of people to witness our home’s embattled landscape. Part song, part story, part procession for our lost land, CRY YOU ONE encourages residents in South Louisiana and beyond to claim ownership of where they live – to understand that they are the living history of their home and hold the possibility of its transformation. This work sample illustrates some of the scale of the work, our use of original music and simple poetic text.
